Terms of Service
Last updated: July 29, 2026
1. The service
Mnemosyne is a cognitive documentation agent: you capture ideas by text or voice and the application uses artificial intelligence to turn them into structured Markdown documents, saved to your own Google Drive.
The service is operated by Alden Merlin as an independent product. Some features depend on third-party services — Google (sign-in and Drive) and the AI provider you configure with your own API key.
By creating an account or using Mnemosyne, you agree to these Terms of Service and to the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. User responsibilities
When using Mnemosyne, you agree to:
- •Keep your Google account and any AI API keys you configure secure — they live in your browser and are your responsibility.
- •Use the service only for lawful purposes, without infringing third-party rights or submitting illegal, defamatory, or malicious content.
- •Respect the terms of the integrated third-party services (Google and your chosen AI provider), including their usage limits and billing.
- •Not attempt to bypass technical limits, probe for vulnerabilities outside a responsible disclosure channel, or intentionally overload the infrastructure.
3. Intellectual property
Your content is yours. Texts, audio recordings, and documents generated from your ideas belong to you and are stored in your Google Drive — Mnemosyne claims no rights over them.
The Mnemosyne software, brand, design, and code belong to Alden Merlin. You receive a personal, non-exclusive, revocable license to use the application; this does not include the right to copy, resell, or redistribute the service.
4. Limitation of liability
Mnemosyne is provided "as is", with no warranty of uninterrupted availability, absence of errors, or fitness for a particular purpose. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies — review it before relying on it for important decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Alden Merlin is not liable for indirect damages, data loss caused by third-party services (Google Drive, AI providers), or costs incurred through your API keys. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under the law of your country.
5. Account termination
You can delete your account at any time in Settings. Deletion removes your data from Mnemosyne's servers; the documents in your Google Drive remain yours and stay there.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or are used abusively, with notice when possible.
6. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated to reflect changes in the service or legal requirements. The "last updated" date at the top indicates the current version; relevant changes will be communicated in the application. Continued use after an update constitutes acceptance of the new terms.
